Take the
SINGLE-USE PLASTIC PLEDGE
Refusing single-use plastic in our daily lives can be as easy as saying, “No straw, please,” or bringing a reusable bag or coffee cup with you when you go out. Small actions add up and send a message to businesses that you don’t want all that plastic.
Join other community members in taking the pledge. We'll let local merchants know just how many of us are serious about reducing our plastic footprint, and that they can help by transitioning to more sustainable materials.
Change at the corporate level will make the biggest impact, but when we each make a commitment, our combined efforts can move mountains!

RETHINK
I will think about the entire lifecycle of goods I consider buying, and ask myself: Do I really need it? Is there a non-plastic alternative?
If there’s no other choice, can it be reused or recycled?

REFUSE
I will say no to single-use plastic whenever possible and NEVER accept Styrofoam. And I will ask restaurants to consider more sustainable alternatives.

REDUCE
I will cut down on my consumption of goods composed of and packaged in plastic. Since these items leave behind plastic waste, I will make a point to reduce my use!

REUSE
I will bring my own reusable containers, utensils, straws, and bags when eating out & shopping. I will choose glass, paper, metal, wood, ceramic, and bamboo over plastic whenever possible.
<<A reusable metal straw is a great alternative to plastic!

RECYCLE
I will recycle the remaining plastic I can't avoid, following the guidelines from the waste handler in my region, to help ensure more effective recycling outcomes.
